One of the finest contemporary painters of the British racing scene. "Peter has tremendous artistic talent, capturing his subject...with superb accuracy and sympathy." Willie Carson.
Peter Deighan..like most Irishmen has an affinity with horses. He spent the first 14 years of his life on a farm in Ireland where looking after animals including working horses was second nature. He had already acquired a considerable reputation as a portrait painter before being introduced to the world of equestrian art. Deighan's paintings hang in some of the most prestigious collections throughout the world, including the Vatican, Dr. and Mrs. Vincent O'Brien, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sangster, Dr. and Mrs. Michael Smurfit, Lord and Lady Tavistock, Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Haughey, Captain and Mrs. John MacDonald Buchanan, Sheikh Hamdan and Sheikh Mohammed al-Maktoum. His portrait commissions include such celebrated names as Cardinal Hume, Frederick Forsythe, Steve Davis, Lester Piggott, Pat Eddery, Willie Carson and the first official portrait of the former UK Prime Minister, John Major. "His equine studies reflect and celebrate the glory and individuality of the subject." Peter O'Sullivan. "I wish you every success with your future, Peter. I know your paintings will all be first class..." Lester Piggott.
