Terence Gilbert studied at Camberwell School of Art and his assured draughtmanship and exceptional observation underly all his paintings.  His style has been described as combining realism with an impressionist touch.

 

Terence has achieved fame in a remarkably wide range of subjects; he is known world-wide as an equestrian artist but is also an acclaimed portrait painter whose subjects include HM The Queen with Ronald Reagan, HM King Hussein of Jordan, Zara Phillip, The Sultan of Oman and numerous sportsmen and women. Equestrian portraits include Generous, Yeats, Nashwan, Don't Push It and Kauto Star.   In addition he has painted polo at Windsor, rowing at Henley, racing at Longchamps and ballet at the Royal Opera House. He is a long-standing member of the Society of Equestrian Artists (S.E.A.).

 

Of special note are his highly atmospheric paintings of Venice, a place he visits and paints repeatedly, and his paintings of Middle Eastern subjects including Arab horses and falcons.

 

Terence Gilbert's paintings are in innumerable private collections around the world.
