The weather is often overcast and the colours are more muted than on race days. I love the close proximity of the horses and with the mud, steam and sweat it all adds to the atmosphere. At Thurles you always get lots of horses so there are plenty of divisions, with some of them on the flat and some over hurdles. It all takes place on the inside of the track so when you’re out there the horses are that much closer.
