Standing just fourteen hands high, Scrub was considered small for a thoroughbred, yet he proved remarkably successful on the turf, winning eight of his eleven races. Painted around 1762, the work belongs to a radical moment in British art. Alongside Stubb’s famous Whistlejacket, it is among the first large-scale portraits to show a horse without a rider, allowing the animal itself to become the sole subject.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"GEORGE STUBBS (British, 1724 - 1806)","offers":[{"title":"Ltd Edition on Paper Unframed","offer_id":58688413958475,"sku":"GS01C-21722","price":368.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"Ltd Edition on Paper Framed (UK only)","offer_id":58688413991243,"sku":"GS01CF-21722","price":520.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"Canvas Unframed","offer_id":58688464191819,"sku":null,"price":330.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true},{"title":"Canvas Framed (UK only)","offer_id":58688470221131,"sku":null,"price":495.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/1024\/5275\/6811\/files\/Stubbs-Scrubuf.jpg?v=1791023011","url":"https:\/\/equestrianfineart.com\/products\/whistlejacket-copy","provider":"Equestrian Fine Art","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
