Equestrian Fine Arts
We sell fine equine paintings and prints worldwide from our houseboat on the Thames at Cheyne Walk in Chelsea, London SW10. We also specialise in commissioning equine art and paintings for private and corporate collections.

People
Charles Mayes is a former director of Richmond Gallery in Cork Street and has specialised in important marine paintings, contemporary figurative art, and equestrian and sporting art for more than thirty years. He spent several years with the London dealers Frost & Reed, who specialised in fine equestrian, Victorian, and marine paintings.
Educated at the Courtauld Institute of Art, Charles has sold paintings by great masters such as Canaletto, Cézanne, Sisley, and Van Gogh, as well as works by many of the most important sporting and equestrian painters of the 19th and 20th centuries, in particular Sir Alfred Munnings. He has also sold major works by the marine painter Montague Dawson.
Charles Mayes has worked for many years with Geoff Hunt PPRSMA, selling original paintings, remarques, and limited editions, and commissioning important works for private collections. He also works with other leading contemporary marine artists, including Shane Michael Couch, Patrick O’Brien, Francis Smitheman, and Paul Wright.

As a corporate art consultant, Charles has worked on the collections of numerous companies and healthcare providers, including Rolls-Royce, Heidrick & Struggles, Hammerson, John Lewis, The Royal College of Surgeons, The Heart Hospital, and London Bridge Hospital.
Louis Mayes graduated from the University of Reading with a First Class degree in the History of Art and Architecture, where he also served as captain of the University Sailing Club.
He began his professional career at Equestrian Fine Art, specialising in the sale of paintings and prints, undertaking research and cataloguing, and managing the content and presentation of the company’s websites.
Louis has since pursued his interest in architecture and is now an ARB-registered architect practising in London, leading his own practice, Studio MAY. His work spans residential design, new-build projects, and sensitive refurbishments, with a strong emphasis on craft, materiality, and context.
Studio MAY’s current projects include Orchard House, Peckham House, Hawthorn Cottage (Tisbury), Handmade House (Ghana), and Wraxall Boardwalk, as well as projects such as Thames Water Gate and St John’s Recent Developments.
In addition to his practice, Louis is a design tutor at Oxford Brookes University, contributing to architectural education and studio teaching. He also continues to work with Equestrian Fine Art as an advisor.
